The formation of our Four Girls teams marks a pivotal moment in our club’s history, showcasing our commitment to empowering young women through basketball. Looking ahead, we are excited to continue supporting these teams and contributing to the broader movement for women’s rights, ensuring that future generations of female athletes have the opportunities they deserve.

The landscape of women’s basketball is experiencing remarkable expansion, marked by a significant increase in participation and sponsorship on a global scale. In the U.S the NCAA women’s basketball tournament has achieved unprecedented viewership figures, reflecting a growing interest and investment in women’s sports. This surge in popularity has not only attracted the attention of fans but has also led to enhanced opportunities for team sponsorships, indicating a shift in how brands and companies perceive the value of women’s athletics.

Here at home Irish Women’s Basketball Team has demonstrated remarkable progress over the years, showcasing their development and resilience in the competitive landscape of international basketball. From a ranking of 106th in 2021, the team has made significant strides, elevating their position to 81st in the FIBA World Ranking by 2024. This upward trajectory reflects not only the hard work and dedication of the players but also the support and investment in women’s sports within Ireland

Knights Basketball continues to build on this momentum, it is essential to acknowledge the importance of fostering talent and providing opportunities for young players. Building a Team takes time, and it underscores the need for ongoing support and resources to further enhance the development of the future success of our women’s teams in the club. However, with a solid foundation in place, the team is poised to make even greater strides in the years to come.
